Google Chrome web Browser
Google Chrome, the new revolution in web browser is the talk of the town every where within hardly a week of its launch. Google Chrome has got all the attention it wanted with its hard to miss new features. Otherwise Google Chrome can be termed as a mixture of the browsers, Opera and Firefox. On the looks part it resembles Opera and with the keyboard shortcuts and other features it works very similar to Firefox.
We could also compare Google Chrome with the other browsers. The thumbnails option in Google Chrome is similar to that of Opera which was released in its latest release. The opening of tabs and other features like opening and closing of each tabs resemble very much to that of Opera.
The most important feature which Google Chrome has is that its crash control mechanism. Wherein if any one of the website in a tab is actually trying to crash the entire browser to close, it does not close or crash the entire browser, instead only that particular tab is closed while you can continue browsing along the other tabs as usual. You can also get the individual tabs into a separate window by just dragging it out of it to create.
You can also create your own application shortcuts on your desktop with which you browse using Google Chrome. You can add this application shortcut either at your desktop or to your start menu.
Google Chrome did come with a new option called incognito mode browsing. Where if you choose this option and browse the net through Google Chrome, the history and cookies will never get saved on your PC.
From the safety front, Google Chrome actually gives you a warning message if you are actually trying to visit a site which has either a spyware, malware, phishing or even any other site which is generally unsafe for your browsing. Thus it outscores Firefox in this category, safety. While Firefox is generally safe for browsing with full safety, Google Chrome has gone one step further by giving you warning messages for any site/sites which are unsafe for you to browse.
Even when you are actually downloading something, Google Chrome has its very own download manager sort of tool with it, where it will display its very own status bar of the download on the same window rather than opening a separate window for the same.
Most importantly the search address bar of Google Chrome acts as both the address bar as well as the regular search bar in a browser. This makes the life easier for us without the need for having to wander around the browser for our browsing and searching needs.
All the other features found in Google Chrome are similar to that of Firefox like clearing history and personal data, moving bookmarks, etc.
The most common error message that we get with Google Chrome is “Aw, Snap!”. This page will be displayed if some tabs/websites crash.
Overall, I should say, Google Chrome scores 6/10 in rating where 10 is great.
